Grafting Roses of Different Colors: A Step-by-Step Guide for Shrub Lovers
1. Timing: Perform grafting in summer when roses are healthy and sap flows vigorously.
2. Sanitize Tools: Clean knife/pruning shears with rubbing alcohol to prevent disease spread.
3. Collect Cuttings: Get stem cuttings with three buds. Carve a “V” shape at the bottom.
4. Select Rootstock: Choose a biennial stem from the rootstock rose plant. Make a centimeter-deep cut in the stem.
5. Insert Graft: Insert the “V” shaped graft into the rootstock’s cut. Wrap tightly with grafting tape.
