Sauteed Mushrooms and Onions

  1. Heat the Pan:
    In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat until hot and shimmering.
  2. Cook the Onions:
    Add the sliced onions to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
  3. Sauté the Mushrooms:
    Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Spread them out evenly and let them cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes to develop a golden brown sear. Stir and continue cooking for another 5-6 minutes until the mushrooms release their moisture and begin to caramelize.
  4. Add Garlic and Seasonings:
    Stir in the minced garlic, thyme, soy sauce (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve hot as a side dish or a topping for steak, chicken, or burgers.
